20Hz

This is the first of my potential tiltes I came up with. I came up with as house and drum and bass culture is usually about the ''feel'' of the music and 20hz is at the very bottom of the human hearing range where most people begin to feel the sound instead of hearing it. I feel the title is clean, modern and very easy to remember. If I do choose to use this title I'll most likely use a font very similar to the one above in a similar layout as the title lends itself to bold and minimalist fonts which will fit very well with the style I want my magazine to express.

DISTORT

This title is also used in music production and is when sound is manipulated and changed from its original form. This title might also lend itself to a catchy tagline like 'twisting your music' which would make the magazine memorable as the title and tagline are easy to remember and are quite unique. The title would lend itself to a more messy, maybe a little bit more grundge type font which would fit reasonably well with my target audience.

SINE

I'm really fond of the use of music terminology for my title as well. Sine is a type of wave usually used in basslines, chords and sometimes in melodies of most drum and bass songs. The title is simple and would look very chic next to magazines with over the top names like Kerrang! which would hopefully attract the target audience and encourage them to buy the magazine. This title lends itself to very 80 fonts such as the one used above that give the impression of a neon sign. this would hopefully give the cover a vintage or retro look which would fit perfectly in line with my target audience.

FACEBOOK RESULTS

I took to Facebook for the second time to see which of my potential names people seemed to like the sound of. As you can see, out of the 11 replies I got (overwhelming, I know) 9 of them said that they preferred 20Hz to Sine and Distort. This actually turned out in my favour as I had originally planed to use 20Hz but I wanted to gauge how well it'd be recieved by my target audience.

F O N T

After it had been decided that I was goingto use 20Hz as my title I had to decide on a fomnt to go with it. Since it's quite a short title I want the font to suit being blown up quite large. I also felt that it would suit a minimalist font, maybe something skinny with subtle curves.

Again I relied of Facebook to help me choose the font for the title. While there was a good spread of votes for each font, there were a few that werre much moe popular than the rest. I'll be selecting a top 5 from these fonts and present them to my teacher to see if they are actually suitable and to see which one she prefers.

The top five fonts are 1, 8, 9, 11 and 12.

Theses are some of the fonts I edited. I like the one in the middle the most but i need to find a suitable photo for them. I may even redo the colours on them to match the colours of my model for the cover.
